Are You Ready For Aconcagua Trekking?

Trekking

It is common for a mountain climber to learn hiking on Aconcagua before climbing other tall and dangerous mountains. However,  Aconcagua Treks can also become life-threatening for a person without any proper preparation.

Check the gear, clothing, and food list, and find the best travel partner, hotel, and guide you may need for your Aconcagua trip. You should also get a medical checkup before you start planning your expedition.

Get a Permit for Climbing Aconcagua

You will need a permit to be able to climb Aconcagua. If you are going through a travel company, they may cover your permit. There are two permits available according to which route you choose to ascend Aconcagua. If you are a solo climber, you must get a permit to climb this mountain because it is also a National Park.

Research the Features of Mount Aconcagua

When you are looking for a tall mountain with a less difficult hiking experience in the southern hemisphere, Aconcagua completes all requirements. This mountain is 22,834 ft above sea level. Climbing this mountain is easy with Aconcagua Guided Climb. If you are in good shape and stay outside for 3 weeks without a problem, you should try climbing to the summit of this mountain.

Scientists state that this mountain is an extinct volcano active at least 9.5 million years ago. It is also a stepping stone for beginner mountain climbers who are checking their physical and mental capacity or getting trained to climb the giant mountain.

Initiate Physical Training

You can decide which route you will take that leads you to the peak of Aconcagua. Whether you select Normal Route to Polish Traverse Route, you will be able to carry about 40 to 50Lb for 8 hours during your hiking. You must build your body for 4 to 6 months to match the required physical fitness.

You should do cardiovascular training, strength and endurance training, uphill climbing, and flexibility training. For a cardiovascular workout, you can do aerobic and anaerobic workouts to increase the capacity to inhale oxygen. Strengthen your lower body and core as you have to walk every day for at least 6 hours with 3.500 ft of vertical elevation gain.

Effect of Altitude Sickness

Altitude influences the pressure, and near the summit of Aconcagua, the oxygen level in the air reduces. If you are unfamiliar with walking with less oxygen, your body may not adapt to it quickly and cause altitude sickness.

The common symptoms of acute mountain sickness are dizziness and headache. You can get relief from this sickness if you carry Diamox pills.

Conclusion

Aconcagua is the largest mountain you can discover outside of Asia. However, it is much easier to climb when compared to Mount Everest. Most people need specific training to build themselves perfect for climbing this mountain. You should do cardiovascular training, strength and endurance training, uphill climbing, and flexibility training.

You can easily complete your trekking with the help of an expedition team. You can book a guide before departing for Aconcagua since they are experienced climbing this mountain. You will have to consider the mountain’s weather before you climb this mountain.
